Irish Cupcakes

March 12, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Irish Cupcakes 6

Boozy cupcakes are one of my favorite things to make during St. Patty’s day for two reasons, the booze and the cupcakes.  The light carbonation of Guinness gives these cupcakes delicious flavor and a perfectly airy consistency.

Classic Irish Soda Bread

March 10, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Irish Soda Bread 3

The Spring season & St. Patrick’s day are the two best things March has to offer.  Each year on St. Patty’s day, I ignore that I’m 0% Irish and take part in traditional cooking, baking & drinking.  While Irish coffee and boozy cupcakes are my specialties, I look forward to soda bread each St. Patty’s day & decided to make my own this year.

Lemon Poppy Hand Pies for ‘Pi Day’

March 6, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Hand Pies 6

Other than cooking/baking measurements, there’s not much I enjoy about numbers.  Math has always been my least favorite thing in the world, probably because I suck at, BUT that won’t stop me from celebrating a mathematical holiday called ‘Pi Day’.

Hamantaschen

March 3, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Hamantaschen 7

One of my favorite parts about Judaism, is it’s a religion celebrated through various foods and recipes.  Each year during late Winter/early Spring we celebrate ‘Purim’, to commemorate the defeat of Haman’s plot to destroy all the Jews in ancient Persia.  Although not the most exciting holiday, Purim does have the most delicious pastry… hamantaschen!

Dark Chocolate Nut Clusters

February 10, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Nut Clusters 3

A few nights ago I had some friends over for dinner & was looking for a simple/healthy-ish dessert.  I remembered just a few weeks earlier, my boyfriend’s mom & I made homemade, dark chocolate nut clusters.  They were delicious, but I wanted to put my own spin on them & figured dinner with friends would be the perfect opportunity.

PALEO Chocolate Pudding Pie

December 23, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Paleo Chocolate Pudding Pie 1

Christmas is around the corner and everyone is scurrying to gather gifts and treats.  This year, I’ll spend Christmas eve and day with my boyfriend’s family, who follow a couple of different diets.  Some are vegetarians, some follow either the Paleo or Primal diets, and all eat super healthy.  This could be a bit of a challenge for me, as I refuse to go empty handed to family holidays and want everyone to enjoy the food I bring.

Mom’s Snowflake Cookies

December 20, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Snowflake Cookie 1

No two snowflakes look the same and neither do these cookies!  This recipe has always been a crowd-pleaser, since my family and I would bake cookies to give as holiday gifts.  Soft chocolate dough rolled in sweet confectioners sugar before baking is what gives these cookies their snowflake design.

Rugelach for Hanukkah

December 17, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Raw Rugelach Insta

The weather may be cold, but I love this time of year.  Everyone is excited about the holidays, gift-giving, and spending time with family and friends.  Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah, which means two things for my family and I; potato latkes and rugelach.  I’ll keep my family’s latke recipe to myself but the rugelach is all yours!
