November 19, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Stuffing Cover

Despite some of our favorite retail stores skipping Thanksgiving to advertise for the Christmas/Hanukkah season, one of my favorite holidays is upon us.  This year, I’m sharing the ultimate stuffing recipe with hearty bread and a whole bunch of pork and sage breakfast sausage.

Dad’s Classic Dill Pickles

November 10, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Pickles Cover

By the end of 2015, my dad will have accomplished three very exciting things – attended the Super Bowl, attended the World Series, and have one of his best recipes featured on Lana del Crave.  This recipe deserves all of the ‘fame’ it will receive from this post, as these classic dill pickles are delicious and so easy to make.  After getting this authentic recipe from a Russian Jewish client, my dad has since made these pickles a staple in our family.

Challah Bread Technique

September 9, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Challah 12

Some recipes are best kept within the family; especially if that recipe is for the best challah bread, ever.  For as long as I can remember, my Aunt Sharon has been responsible for baking challah for family events, be it a holiday, wedding, bar or bat mitzvah.  This year, she has passed her recipe on to me.

Spring Quinoa Salad

April 7, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Spring Quinoa 3

Spring is finally here… it’s been cold & rainy but it’s finally here!  While thinking of seasonal recipes, I wanted to create a fresh, healthy dish packed with veggies and herbs.  Loaded with asparagus, peas, basil & chives, this quinoa salad definitely hit the spot.

Classic Irish Soda Bread

March 10, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Irish Soda Bread 3

The Spring season & St. Patrick’s day are the two best things March has to offer.  Each year on St. Patty’s day, I ignore that I’m 0% Irish and take part in traditional cooking, baking & drinking.  While Irish coffee and boozy cupcakes are my specialties, I look forward to soda bread each St. Patty’s day & decided to make my own this year.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stock

February 5, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Chicken Stock Veg

My sister often raves about using her slow cooker to make homemade chicken stock.  As delicious as it sounds, I never thought making stock from scratch would be worth it – since it’s a cheap grocery store item and I never remember to save chicken bones.  As I’ve been cooking with rotisserie chickens quite a bit, I figured it’d be a great time to take advantage of both the bones/carcass and my slow cooker.

Mom’s Guacamole

January 31, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Mom's Guac (2)

Happy Super Bowl weekend!  Did you guys know Super Bowl Sunday is the second largest food day in America?  Next to Thanksgiving, of course.  The new and improved Lana del Crave is up and running so my first order of business is to share this delectable dip with you folks.

PALEO Bread

January 22, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Paleo Bread 3

With 2015 in full effect, and a tropical vacation creeping up quickly, I’ve been doing my best to stay away from grains, sugar, and dairy.  Following various Paleo recipes found on Pinterest or in cookbooks has allowed me to do this easily (at least, during the week when there’s no temptation for Saturday/Sunday brunch).

Healthy Blueberry Muffins

January 20, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Healthy BB Muffins 3

A couple of weekends ago, we celebrated my mom’s birthday with a family brunch at my sister’s house.  As this was just a few days after everyone’s New Year resolutions had begun, my sister and I were in search of healthy recipes.  She had the eggs and bacon covered, so I decided to bake muffins.

Mashed Cauliflower

January 13, 2015 by Ilana Traeger

Mashed Cauliflower 1

Cauliflower is extremely trendy these days.  Packed with fiber and antioxidants, it’s understandable why people have been replacing starchy potatoes with this delicious alternative.  From roasted florets to gluten free pizza crusts, cauliflower has proven itself to be extremely versatile.  My favorite way to enjoy this veggie is to mash it, similar to classic mashed potatoes.
