Rugelach for Hanukkah

December 17, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Raw Rugelach Insta

The weather may be cold, but I love this time of year.  Everyone is excited about the holidays, gift-giving, and spending time with family and friends.  Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah, which means two things for my family and I; potato latkes and rugelach.  I’ll keep my family’s latke recipe to myself but the rugelach is all yours!

Italian Style Stuffed Peppers

December 12, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Stuffed Peppers 3

While stuffed peppers are a new phenomenon to me, I fell in love with the idea very quickly.  One day after chatting with one of my girlfriends about what to make for dinner, as we often do, I decided to search for a stuffed pepper recipe.

Tomato Soup w. Pesto Drizzle

December 10, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Tomato Soup 1

This morning, as I walked out the door and on to a sidewalk covered in ice, I decided tonight would be the perfect night for tomato soup.  Soup is definitely comfort food, especially when the weather is cold.

Greek Burgers w. Tzatziki

December 8, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Greek Burger 2

In my opinion, Tzatziki is one of the best sauces ever… especially this recipe.  If you’re reading that word & wondering what the heck ‘tzatziki’ is, it’s a Greek sauce typically served over meat or as a vegetable dip.

Pumpkin Cheesecake

November 26, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Raw Cheesecake

Years ago, there was a show called ‘Dessert First’ on Food Network, hosted by Anne Thornton.  She dedicated her show to only dessert recipes and they all looked divine, including her ‘pumpkin maple pecan cheesecake’.  This decadent fall-themed dessert was calling my name, I had to find a reason to re-create it.  Thanksgiving seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Mom’s Sweet Potato ‘Pie’

November 26, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Sweet Potato Pie 2

I firmly believe side dishes are the best part of Thanksgiving dinner.  Aside from the person cooking or carving the turkey, no one remembers whether or not the bird was brined, dry rubbed, baked, or fried.  We remember the side dishes and most times, the dessert.  My favorite side dish is my mom’s sweet potato ‘pie’.  While it’s more a casserole, the flavors are sweet like a dessert – hence ‘pie’.

Honey BBQ Wings

November 20, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Chicken Wings

Chicken wings are messy but totally worth it for the right recipe.  One day while watching Cooking Channel I saw a short video of ‘Crazy Legs Conti’, a professional eater, address the best ways to eat chicken wings.  Here’s the link – my favorite is ‘the meat umbrella’.  I found myself craving to attempt this technique, then I found myself craving wings.   Naturally, I turned to Pinterest.

Manly Pork & Beef Chili

November 18, 2014 by Ilana Traeger

Chili

Football season, what’s not to love? Every Sunday I watch my man scream at the television, questioning why the NY Giants suck this season and counting fantasy football points.  Although I have a fantasy team of my own, I am usually more focused on the comfort food we’ll curl up with while we both cheer our teams on.   This week we were craving chili.
