Ina Garten’s Perfect Pie Crust

Ina Garten isn’t kidding when she labeled this pie crust ‘perfect’.  Because it’s made in the food processor, this is the easiest and one of the flakiest crusts I’ve tasted.  This recipe makes 2 crusts and can easily be frozen.  If you’re looking to get a jump on Thanksgiving dessert, go with pie and make this crust as soon as possible!

Pumpkin Cheesecake

Years ago, there was a show called ‘Dessert First’ on Food Network, hosted by Anne Thornton.  She dedicated her show to only dessert recipes and they all looked divine, including her ‘pumpkin maple pecan cheesecake’.  This decadent fall-themed dessert was calling my name, I had to find a reason to re-create it.  Thanksgiving seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Mom’s Sweet Potato ‘Pie’

I firmly believe side dishes are the best part of Thanksgiving dinner.  Aside from the person cooking or carving the turkey, no one remembers whether or not the bird was brined, dry rubbed, baked, or fried.  We remember the side dishes and most times, the dessert.  My favorite side dish is my mom’s sweet potato ‘pie’.  While it’s more a casserole, the flavors are sweet like a dessert – hence ‘pie’.
